What are stretch marks?
What are stretch marks? Stretch marks are also known as striae gravdarum. They are lines that appear on the skin which are caused when the fiber under the skin (collagen) is damaged. They start out as prominent red lines, then turn into a whitish- colored scar when healed. Once the damaged fiber is healed, it becomes what we know as a stretch mark (visible scar tissue).
What causes the fibers to become damaged?
Fibers can become damaged in many different ways. There are two common causes: 1) when the skin is stretched due to rapid weight gain or 2) muscle hypertrophy (thickening of muscle fibers). For example in women who have given birth or bodybuilders who pump up their muscles.
Additionally, adolescent teens may notice stretch marks caused by natural growth spurts, and eating too much at once may cause stretch marks to appear around the stomach area.
Stretch marks may occur on the breasts, the upper arms, the buttocks, thighs and across the entire abdomen.

Claudine-Scottsdale, Arizona I have struggled with my weight my whole life and when I was younger I had gotten heavier and gotten stretch marks. I started using the defining gel and have noticed how much softer and smoother my skin has become. I use it on my areas that I want to tone but I also use it on my stretch marks and my chest. I am using it like lotion now, I am putting it on all over. Living in Arizona it is very dry and I have tried many lotions and I have noticed that having fun experimenting on what else it will fix on me! Yes I am totally hooked! I have also used 4 ab & back applicatiors so far and have lost 2.5 inches and have kept them off. I have not been sticking to a diet and have been sparatically exercising and am shocked that I have been able to keep those inches off. I can't wait to try the facial applicator. Like I said before living in Arizona it is very dry so staying hydrated and keeping my skin looking hydrated is a challenge in itself.
